Any truth to the rumor of new games coming soon with a new max bet of $500 and a $1/$2 and $10/$20 blinds?

I had not heard the rumor but I believe the $150 max is set by the compact and therefore CAZ cannot go above it.

The rumor is it will be upped on Monday, which seems pretty soon since this is the first I have heard about it.  This will create not only the bigger spread limit games, but also possibilities for higher limit hold'em and mixed games.

It looks like this isn't a rumor.  According to the March 2009 amendment to the gaming compact (located at http://www.gm.state.az.us/CompactAmendmentGeneric.pdf) the poker limitation was upped to $500 for up to ten tables per facility and $250 at all other tables.

Surprisingly, the Salt River tribe didn't sign the amendment while Fort McDowell did.

so, did any of the games change?

Just got back from a trip and found things have changed a bit, i just called and it appears they still have several 1/2 and 3/5 games, im wide awake so i may go in and see what has held together.

When i finally made it in, Wednesday afternoon; there were actually a number of the 5-150 games along with the new 1/2 and 3/5 to $500 games.  I wander around and watched for a while, but realized i am just beat and have to go home and catch up on rest.  Will see whats happening over the weekend.

Was there yesterday and saw the new games at $500 max bet level.  Great change for the State and Casino Arizona.  It would certainly be nice if the State would grow up and allow No Limit Cash and uncap the betting.  Even though I am primarily a Limit Cash player, I never like the State telling me what I can do with my money.

Imagine if they told us the maximum we could spend on a car....or $500 limit on Stock purchases, etc

Well, doesn't matter, now that the compact has been changed, no chance it will be changed again anytime soon.

The 1/2 games seem to be doing decent without draining the player pool from the higher ( previous 5-150 and now 5-500) games.
A lot of new faces, they need to force more white chips in to the 1/2 games to reduce the almost constant changing down of red chips by the dealers.

The 1/2 players can be more animated and sometimes there is more drama involved, there is a little to much "tanking" about whether to call a $2 bet with $4 or $6 pot.

One thing i have noticed: the NEW mostly younger players that have shown up to play in the 1/2 games seem respect the bets of others on a higher level than the "regulars" that have played in the room previously.  They respect the players more as well. " many sincere "nice hand"s when they recognize were just plain outplayed.

I played at the 1-2 game last friday. It seemed that all the regular 5-150 players moved on to the 3/5-500 game. So none the less, I was all to happy to play against some newer faces.

From my view the 3/5-500 game that was close to my 1-2 table was somewhat of a tight game (then again I only took a few glances during my breaks).  I initially thought the 1-2 table was going to be slow but i'm glad I was wrong. Plenty of action (well enough for my taste). Had fun and it was definitely worth my time being there.

I'm sure the 1-2 game will become more popular as people find out about the new games available. I welcome the new faces, although it did seem like alot of 3-6; 4-8 players took a liking to the 1-2 game.  One of the dealers kinda summarized my experience when he was leaving the table and joking to another dealer, "plays like a 3-6 game but not". (btw, i had fun taking advantage of the calling stations )
