Wow, I just got confirmation on this today.

Can't believe it is true.  That is utterly horrible.

There needs to be a revolt.

Screw them.

I think I will make insulting comments about the tables to every floor I see until they are gone.

i think this guy is called [ name(s) removed ], plays 3/5 , buys in for minimum usually, pretty much a grinder..doesnt get involved in a lot of hands, doesn't really "gamble"

Live Games / UB guy welshes on $4K bet

I'd posted on 4bb but was asked to post here too:

Outrageous (if you're a poker player) story from my local casino tonight. This dude sits down next to me:

I think he's one of the UB underlings like the Poker Ho and those guys. He's been around in the mid stakes live games forever and always has all his UB garb on. He is villain in this hand.

Preflop, one of Hero's cards is exposed by the dealer and is the Kd. Like normal, it is returned and a new card is dealt to hero. This comes into play later.

Flop is JT2 and hero and UB villain get it all in. At some point one of them tells the other one he has him crushed.
UB Villain: "I'll bet you $1000 I have you beat right now."
Hero practically jumps out of his seat to accept. He confirms "I'll absolutely bet you $1000 on the side that I have you beat."
UB Villain: "I'll bet you any amount you want that I have you beat."
Hero "Any amount? $4000 then, we're betting $4000"
UB Villain confirms multiple times they're betting $4000 on the side.

Hands are flipped over, hero has JJ, UB Villain has JT.

Hero says: "You owe me $4000"
UB Villain says he isn't paying because he thought hero had the Kd in his hand. (apparently he thought the Kd just flashed enough for him to see it but that hero still had it in his hand. Which of course is another shady thing on UB villains part, to see someone's flashed card and not say anything about it, AND then get into a pot vs the guy)

Anyway, I don't know hero or villain, but it was pretty clear a bet was made and UB villain welshed on it. I hate stuff like that so I thought I'd post.

The rest of the table was 100% behind the hero. UB Villain got stacked obviously, and said he wasn't paying and there wasn't anything hero could do about it, and left and went to hit the ATM or something for more money. While he was gone, everyone was talking about how he totally owed him the money, hero guy was basically a realist and was like well that guy is a huge douche. But it was very very clear to every single person at the table that UB Villain initiated and accepted the bet, and owed the $4K

Villian eventually came back and there was a little more back and forth but everyone just ignored him the rest of the time I was there, which was only for another half hour or so.

If anyone knows or sees him, feel free to let him know in the poker world most of us consider verbal bets binding.

General Discussion / HORRIBLE food and drink servic...
Last post by Nidociv - March 19, 2011, 02:08:18 PM
Oh My, yesterday was an example of the worst level of food and beverage service in general that I have ever seen.

i don't know what in the world is going on in the room, but the food service is in a progressive spiral downward. I waited for almost 30 minutes for a server to appear late yesterday afternoon, finally after she handed off a menu she disappeared in a huff until I finally snagged her walking by 20 minutes later, I felt like I was putting her out.
I don't know if they are short staffed; if they are then they better fix it, if extra help doesn't change the attitude then it may be time to find servers without the attitude.

The poor service is really starting to upset a lot of people, not just me. The whole table was talking about it, it almost became funny.
I should not have to wait more than 10 minutes to get service.  Period.

When I said something about how long the service always seems to take the dealer just shook his head, he indicated the "service board" goes in to a flashing mode when it has been more than 10 minutes and that several of servers come over, and press the service button to reset the flashing ( and also turns off the service light) and then disappear, just so the managers don't see it flashing. I assume they get in trouble for that.

What prompted this post is that I left the room yesterday and by chance came back with some friends from out of town later in the evening, after another round of waiting 20-30 minutes for service they asked "is there a bar where we can get a drink?  Is it always like this?"  I was embarrassed to have say, "well, yes a lot of the time."
Holy Cow it is getting bad, consistently.  I don't understand how the managers don't see what is happening and take action.
