Suggestion Box / Omaha 8 suggestions for improv...

1 get rid of the killpot or at least raise the trigger point to 2 scoops instead of 1, it really blows to know that out of the 70 $ dollars you just one your going to give back 1 1/2 blinds usually defending a marginal or terrible hand here.
2 get rid of jackpot in O8.  The jackpot rules for O8 basically mirror holdem rules, problem is 08 is a signifactly different game.  wereas in holdem you usuallly want to play pocket 5s through 9s and almost always want to play 10s or higher in  O8 you are or you should be dumping a bunch of hands that contain these pairs and also the various suited connectors (playable in holdem)that lead to the uber rare st8 flush vsof a kind for jackpot.

I"ll admit i'm ranting and I sound cheap but it is not fair to be forced to pay for a jackpot system that benefits holdem players while playing O8.  Fwiw i hate jackpot while playing holdem too, if i wanted to scratch lottery tickets i could drive 2mins to circle k instead of 1/2 to the casino

while i see you perspective on long term, what i see is this...

In the 8 handed game, those players are unaware that a player wants a table change and are likely content with getting the next player that arrives to get in a game.
The 9 handed game is full and the players are content.

"if it aint broke"

I see your point that the 8 handed game will be happy, but the game that just lost a player will be dis-satisfied on higher level, its doesn't balance out.

The next time this happens, go over to the game that just got a player removed and tell them..."In the long run, this policy is better for more people, you included. This time, you happened to be on the unlucky side"  and see how that goes over.  I understand what you are saying, but the reality is, MOST players dont think in those terms, they are concerned with what is happening at the moment.

I have seen more games break because of this policy that would have stayed in action if they would have just waited to move a player until they could fill the seat.

I don't get it. If one table has 9 players and the other has 8, or one table has 8 and the other has 9, it makes no difference to the house or to you on average. If you were at the 8 handed table and a 9th person came over, you'd be happy.

Allowing players to move when they want is a net gain. In this situation, 17 players are involved. Not allowing player 9 at a table to move makes the other 8 players at that table happy, makes player 9 sad, and the 8 players at the other table sad. (so 8 happy, 9 sad) Allowing him to move makes the other 8 players at his original table sad, him happy and the other table's 8 players happy. (9 happy, 8 sad)

You need the same skill here that you do in poker: Learn to look at the long run and not at your short run results. In the long run, this policy is better for more people, you included. This time, you happened to be on the unlucky side. Next time, you probably won't be.

I too witnessed the hand and yes it is true a bet of $4,000 was confirmed multiple time and [name removed] welched.  Not only did [name removed] welch on the bet, he actually got up after being felted and went to the ATM got more money (not much, like $300) and displayed the poor taste of returning to the table. As a member of the poker community it was appalling!  [name removed] is not welcome at my table and those who know him or see him at the tables in the future should let others know of his low character.

I wouldn't want to play on those tables if I was a blackjack player.  I'd rather play in the main room than have to listen to them calling players into poker rooms every minute or two.

When i came in at 7 last night 3 of the 4 tables were "dead spreads" and the 4th didn't even have a dealer and i thought, well, lets see what happens, but within and hour or so all three were active.
Tonight they were busier, i think all 4 tables were going most of the night, i didn't notice any negative affect on the poker games at all.  We shall see, maybe being in the room will tempt some of the BJ players to take a shot at poker.

Yes, they were set up already when I played last night, 4-5 tables in the front corner.  I guess I don't really mind that much although it will be annoying during peak times when every table's in use.  Maybe it will draw some blackjack players into the poker games?

I think I remember playing with this guy pretty frequently a few years ago when I played a lot of 5-150.  I don't remember him being particularly good but maybe he's improved.

I can't imagine trusting another casino player with an on-the-spot bet that big.
