Title: running terrible
Post by: CrazyLond on August 24, 2007, 01:11:12 PM
No one has to read this, I just wanted to vent somewhere.

The last two weeks have been absolutely brutal, ever since I won the morning tournament.  I won a little playing 5/150 a few days after and have not left ahead in a cash game since.  It seems no matter what game I play, I am just getting killed.  I played stud the other day and hit one full house in 5 hours, naturally losing to quads.  I had 2 flushes and lost with them both.  I did win with one straight, but lost with every other one.  I tried Omaha the next day and did no better.  Today I played 10/150 and lost.  I had QQ twice, with 3 undercard flops both times, losing both timea.  The first time I lost to a set of tens and second time, lost to a small 2 pair someone made on river but I was all in on flop that hand.  I also flopped a set of nines, which lost to a straight on the river.  Tournaments have been no better.  I cashed in two tournaments since my win, a wednesday night one and the state championship, but those wins together are barely enough to cover one morning tournament.  On Tuesday I went all-in preflop with JJ with about 4 tables left and ran into 77 which naturally turned into 777.  On Wednesday I put most my stack in with 3 tables left with AK preflop against A8 and lost to a pair of eights which crippled me.  Today was perhaps the icing on the cake, as I flopped a set of kings, went all-in on the turn, and lost to a rivered straight.

I've recognized some mistakes in some hands I've played, but most of these I seemed destined to lose big.  I'm playing the tournament tomorrow but if I don't cash, I might need to take some time to cool off.

Running cold is part of the game.  The trick is surviving the bad runs, dont play in any bigger games to catch up and your cold streak will eventually work itself out.

Yeah, that's true.  I'm going to take a few days off from the casino to get my head clear.

I've been doing alright online lately so may focus on that for a while.

My awesome streak continues.  With 12 players left in the morning tournament today, I was about 9th in chips with 9000.  Blinds were 500/1000.  Middle position player raises to 4000.  I go all in from the small blind with QQ.  He calls and tables a QJ.  Naturally, he rivers a flush to knock me out.

I mucked a winning hand once, but that was over a year ago.

Well, finally starting to look up a bit, I thought that streak was never going to end!  Now if I just got a job I'd be flush!

Jobs are overrated, all I do is sit on a computer and read about poker.  But that is the main reason why my game has improved so much the last 6 months!

Hehe, that's what I spend a lot of time doing also, along with working on this degree and playing.

I haven't drank in almost 9 months which has done wonders for my game.
