Title: JackPots
Post by: Admin on July 10, 2007, 11:45:23 AM
All games 10/20 and below( including spread limit games) are jackpot games.
There are two separate jackpots, one for Holdem and one for Omaha/7 Card Stud.

All jackpots are paid with the following split:
Losing hand receives 50%
Winning hand receives 25%
Remaining players dealt in to the hand split the remaining 25%.
Players have a 10 minute window that they may be away from a game an still be qualified for a "players share".

The Holdem Jackpot is seeded at $7500.00 every time it is hit and $1965.00 is added daily at 2 a.m.

The Omaha/Stud JackPot is seeded at $3500.00 every time it is hit and $600.00 is added daily at 2 a.m.

Holdem
The qualifying hands for holdem are Aces full of Tens or better beaten by 4 Of a Kind or better.
Both hole cards must play.

Stud
The qualifying hands for Stud are four 5's or better beaten by a higher hand.
There is a "mini" jackpot in Hi-lo Stud games worth $500.
Qualifier is a 6, 4, 3, 2, ace beaten by a "wheel" (ace, 2, 3, 4, 5).

Omaha
The qualifying hands are four 5's or better beaten by a higher hand, normal Omaha rules apply( must use 2 from hand , 3 from board)

Since I am new to the area and Casino Az, I was just wondering why the jackpots only apply to 10/20 and below? Thanks

Because higher limits aren't interested in the jackpots, and don't want $1 taken out of every pot.  I don't know the exact reason, but jackpots are usually favored by newer players, which aren't found as often in the higher limits.

Ah I see. My "home" casino didn't have any kind of jackpot so I was surprised to see any at all.

2 get rid of jackpot in O8.  The jackpot rules for O8 basically mirror holdem rules, problem is 08 is a signifactly different game.  wereas in holdem you usuallly want to play pocket 5s through 9s and almost always want to play 10s or higher in  O8 you are or you should be dumping a bunch of hands that contain these pairs and also the various suited connectors (playable in holdem)that lead to the uber rare st8 flush vsof a kind for jackpot.

I"ll admit i'm ranting and I sound cheap but it is not fair to be forced to pay for a jackpot system that benefits holdem players while playing O8.  Fwiw i hate jackpot while playing holdem too, if i wanted to scratch lottery tickets i could drive 2mins to circle k instead of 1/2 hour to the casino
