What is most important to you in deciding where to play?
I will rank them in my order of preference:
1) closest
2) best tables, chairs, lighting, atmosphere (probably goes with the staff one, amirite)
3) best promotions and freebies
4) friendliest, most experienced, and professional staff
5) seem to be luckiest at
Obviously if one of them the dealers spit at me when I sit down and the other that isn't the case, that would change, but for the most part, I see little difference in things like that and it can improve over time. Proximity is something that just can't change.
I drive about 45 minutes to get to CAZ. My answer for why I play in a particular room is not on the list: game selection. I like the fact that if I am not feeling the vibe at my table, I can just ask for a table change. There are usually at least 3 games running of my game of choice. So if I'm at a table full of rocks, I can just move. I won't get that option in a smaller room.
Here is my list in order of importance:
1. Game selection (availability and plenty of fish)
2. Professionalism
3. Comfort of atmosphere (chairs, proper room temp, no smoke, food and beverage service)
You are right, I forgot about game selection. It is nice to be able to bounce around to different games when you feel the need!
I think the game selection is my #1 factor. It takes me about 20 minutes to drive to CAZ from tempe, which isn't a big deal.
Friendly / experienced staff probably #2. Promotions #3.
