For some time there has been talk about the proposed Casino at 134 acres at 91st and Northern avenues near Glendale's sports and entertainment district.
It would have been operated by the Tohono O'odham Nation owns the land.
It was announced today the the city of Glendale has denied the use of the land for the purpose of a Casino.
This is probably good news for the CAZ poker room, as they would have very likely lost quite a bit of traffic from the west side, especially during the day.
do you have a link to the story?
I thought it was said before that it was Federal land and it wouldn't be subject to the city rules. (Like how CAZ isn't in Scottsdale, etc.)

Found the Link... it just says that Glendale opposes it. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't be approved to build the casino. I hope they do, but thats because I'm lazy and don't always feel like driving all the way to CAZ.
Anyone know anything new about this?
Heard Glendale changed their mind and now wants the Casino, but the STATE now is saying..."we don't think so"
Here's an article from today's Republic. It certainly sounds like Glendale doesn't want it.

Yeah I read something this past weekend, it seems like they will get approval to change the land to a reservation. Also from the article it seems like they don't care if Glendale wants them there or not, they are going to build it. Good for me, I live just down the 101 from them.
I guess it remains to be seen, I think the Tohono O'odham Nation will still have a fight on their hands with Glendale and ADOG even if the bureau of Indian affairs agrees label the land as reservation.
