thursday night i was playing in a 3/6 limit hold'em game @ the gila river casino...the action was great!  an hour or so into my session i looked over at one of the 4/8 limit games and i think i saw that_pope...wasn't sure at first cause i know he normally plays at CAZ but after a triple take i was sure it was him...asu sundevil hat was my confirmation!

so, my question is what was he doing playing at gila river this past thursday?

Oh my, why didn't you come over and say hi!  And yes I was playing at Gila River on Thursday.  I took my mother out for breakfast in Chandler, and thought I would change it up and play there, especially since I was closer.  I always have such a hard time reading their cards, since they have much bigger font in the corners.  I play there about once every few months.  And I am glad I did since I flopped a royal flush, and got paid $200 for it, where at CAZ it is only $50 or a Jacket depending upon what their current promotion is.

heck yeah nice hit with that royal flush!  $200 bonus is awesome...i won two splash pots that night so i felt lucky too!  i was only playing 3/6 limit but the 8/16 game looked real juicy and i almost stepped up.  for some reason the 8/16 @ gila almost always looks like a joke!  i guess when 8/16 is the high stake game in the house you are asking for a donkfest...

also, this town really needs a game somewhere in the middle of 8/16 & 20/40...i would love to see a 12/24 game with $3 chips or even a 15/30 game

You sound exactly like me.  2 years ago when I was trying to move from 8/16 to 20/40, I was thinking the exact same thing, that a 12/24 game would be real nice.  But when CAZ can only get 2-4 (MAX) games in the 6/12 and 8/16 range, a 12/24 game would only take from that player pool even more, I just don't think there are enough players for it, but it would make the transition easier for sure.

And 2 years ago, Gila River used to get a 15/30 game going on Fri/Sat, sometimes even 2 games.  This was back when they were a smoking room, I played it a few times, but never made it my regular game, because the smoke really bothered me, and it is a longer drive for me.

Congrats on the splash pots, I have never won a splash pot in my life.
