Is anyone else planning to go up to Vegas for any of the WSOP events or ring games?  I am probably going to go up and play in a $1500 NLHE event in mid-June.  I considered playing another type of game but I think I'd like another year of practice before messing with one of those for a WSOP-level buyin.  Of course, if I win the NLHE I'll still have time to try quite a few other ones

the only way I will be going is if I satellite in. good luck though! I heard a rumor that the final table of the main event is being put off until Nov to be shown live

CrazyLond

That rumor is correct, they've postponed it for several months for buildup and things.  I think it's a terrible idea.  I just sent in my cashier's check so I'm preregistered for event #32, $1500 NLHE.  I got a discounted room rate for my stay at Harrahs.  Even if I don't cash, I figure the ring games in Vegas should be juicy during the WSOP.

Flying up to Vegas in about 12 hours, the event starts tomorrow at noon.  I feel really confident going in...I've been on a great streak the last couple months at the casinos and also the last couple weeks playing online NLHE cash games.  I'll give you guys a report from vegas since I'm bringing my laptop.

I just busted out before the dinner break.  I started with 3000 chips and doubled up early with KK against.....89 for a raise and reraise preflop, then all-in check-raise on the flop.  I managed to grind up to about 12000 over the next couple hours.  I ended up getting crippled in a hand where it was folded around to me on the button.  I started the hand with 12000 and the small blind with about 10500.  Blinds were 100/200 with a 25 ante.  I made it 700 to go with KJ of hearts.  The small blind reraised to 2100.  I called, since it felt like a resteal and I had 3-1 odds in position.  I had raised the button the last couple times it was folded to me so a resteal seemed viable.  Anyway, flop came Q52 with 2 hearts.  My opponent bet out about 2000 which seemed like a fairly weak bet.  I came over the top all-in and he tanked for about 5 minutes before calling with A5.  I missed the hearts and the king and jack.  I was down to 1500 chips and busted out soon after.  I pushed all-in with A7, running into AT.

Overall, I was alright with the result.  I didn't cash but I felt like I played well at a pretty tough table and managed to get the chips in where I was a favorite with the KJ and hearts.  If I'd won that hand, I'd probably have been top ten in chips but it wasn't meant to be.

I'm up about $350 playing cash games last night.  I hardly got any sleep because my schedule has beens screwy.  I'm going to sleep now until I wake up, then probably just play cash for the rest of the trip.

Nice showing, and good to get some big time experience under your belt.  Too bad about that KJ hand, he made a very very thin call, and unfortunately, you had one of 3 or 4 hands that he was actually ahead of.  Enjoy vegas!

CrazyLond

Yikes, from bad to worse.  I slept for about 6 hours after the tourney, then went and played some 2/5 at caesars.  I got stuck a couple racks and went over to Bellagio.  I dropped a couple hundred playing 3-card, ate some overpriced junk in the cafe and then played some 15/30 limit.  I was up about 500 at one point but ran into some bad connections and left up about 100.  I then played some pai gow and actually won $180.  I went over to Harrahs where I'm staying, had a shower and went to go play some 1/2.  Miracously, I managed to drop 2 $300 buy-ins at that table.  The play was so terrible but I couldn't seem to get a hand to hold up.  I went and played in the Caesar's megastack tournament at noon.

I managed to keep pace with the blinds for the first 6 levels.  We started with 7500 chips and by dinner break, I had about 40000 which was about average with 90 of 500 something players left.  The top 50ish made the money.  I returned from dinner break, had to fold when my late raise with A7s was repopped all-in and ended up with about 30k chips with the blinds at 1000/2000 with a 300 ante.  With my M at almost exactly 5, I pushed all-in with AA and was called by blah, 88.  The first four cards were alright by that cursed 8 hit on the river and I busted.  Very dissapointing for a solid 8 hours of tournament play.

So overall I'm down a bit over 3K for the trip.  I believe the KJ was the only hand in the first one where I had all my chips at risk in a showdown.  In the one today, the AA was the 2nd time, with the first being my JJ against my opponent's 88.
